Pete Trenchard

Youth Jiu Jitsu Coach

Coach Pete Trenchard brings over two decades of teaching, coaching, and mentorship experience to the children’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at Dandelion BJJ. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History and Education from Sacred Heart University, Pete has dedicated his career to shaping young minds, both in the classroom and on the field.

As a Social Studies teacher at West Haven High School since 1999, Pete has educated thousands of students, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and 21st-century learning skills. His passion for education extends beyond high school as an Affiliate Professor at Albertus Magnus College, where he guides aspiring educators in curriculum design, assessment, and lesson planning.

Coach Pete’s coaching resume is extensive, spanning multiple sports, including soccer, lacrosse, and basketball. He has served as the Head Coach for various high school varsity teams, as well as the Coaching Director for the West Haven Youth Soccer League. He’s also the owner and head coach of Elite Soccer Camps, bringing a wealth of leadership and motivational skills to every program he’s involved in.

In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Pete excels at creating a welcoming and engaging environment for young athletes. His approach combines his deep understanding of child development with his years of coaching experience, ensuring that every child builds confidence, discipline, and a love for learning while developing their BJJ skills.

Off the mat, Pete continues to support youth development through programs like the Blue Devil Summer Soccer League and his work with the Nutmeg Curling Club’s “Little Rockers” program. Coach Pete is not only an accomplished educator and coach but also a dedicated mentor who prioritizes safety, personal growth, and fun in all his activities.

We are proud to have Coach Pete leading our children’s BJJ program and inspiring the next generation of martial artists!
