Jiu Jitsu Coach

Coach Dimitri Thornton is a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Fabio Araujo, with a strong background in MMA and high-level competition, including appearances in Reality Fighting Super Fights.

A seasoned martial artist and school psychologist, Dimitri holds advanced degrees from Fairfield University and currently supports students’ emotional and academic growth at Newtown High School.

His coaching blends technical expertise with mental resilience, drawing from his experience in both martial arts and psychology to help students build confidence, discipline, and focus—on and off the mat.
